Northern Melbourne's most advanced suburban dental practice

Core Dental Group's Epping practice sits near Pacific Epping Shopping Centre on Cooper Street — one of the more accessible locations across Melbourne's northern suburbs. Over time it's become Core Dental's technology showcase, with CEREC same-day crown milling and laser dentistry on-site, backed by a clinical team that includes a specialist paediatric dentist.

The practice works particularly well for working parents and school-age children. Extended hours until 6:00 pm Monday to Friday, straightforward public transport access, and specialist paediatric care all under one roof make it a practical choice. Patients regularly mention the warm atmosphere, the gentle clinical team, and a feel that's notably different from a typical dental waiting room — something that makes a real difference for anxious patients and nervous kids.

Getting there

By train: Core Dental Epping is about a 10-minute walk from Epping Station on the South Morang line, making it one of the more public-transport-friendly Core Dental Group locations in Melbourne.

By bus: Stops on High Street and Cooper Street are both close by.

By car: Parking is available near Pacific Epping Shopping Centre and on surrounding streets.

CEREC same-day crowns

Core Dental Epping is one of three Core Dental Group locations with CEREC technology. Rather than taking a physical impression, sending it to a laboratory, and waiting one to two weeks for the result, CEREC handles the whole process in a single visit. The tooth is digitally scanned, the crown is designed on-screen, milled from a ceramic block, and fitted — typically within a couple of hours.

This suits patients with busy schedules who find multiple appointments difficult to manage, or those who simply want dental issues sorted quickly.

Laser dentistry

Core Dental Epping is currently the only Core Dental Group location offering laser dentistry. Dental lasers work across a range of procedures — soft tissue treatments, cavity preparation, teeth whitening enhancement, and gum disease treatment. For many patients, laser treatment is more comfortable, more precise, and associated with faster healing than traditional approaches. Talk to the Epping team about whether laser dentistry is appropriate for your situation.

Sleep dentistry

For patients with dental phobia, significant anxiety, or more complex treatment needs, sleep dentistry is available at Epping. Both nitrous oxide (happy gas) and IV sedation are offered. This allows multiple treatments to be completed comfortably in a single session, with little or no memory of the procedure. The team can walk you through the options and help work out which approach suits you best.

Why Epping is Core Dental Group's technology showcase

Core Dental Epping combines advanced on-site technology with extended evening and Saturday hours — a practical setup for working parents, commuters, and patients who want comfort built into their dental care.

CEREC same-day crowns — Your crown is designed, milled, and fitted in a single visit. No temporary crown, no second appointment, no heading back to work with a provisional in place. CEREC is available at a small number of Core Dental Group locations and suits busy professionals particularly well.

Laser dentistry — Core Dental Epping is the only Core Dental Group location currently offering laser dentistry. For many anxious patients, the sound and sensation of a traditional drill is a key source of fear. Laser procedures tend to be quieter, faster, and often require less anaesthetic.

Near Epping Station — About 10 minutes' walk from Epping Station on the South Morang line. Easy to fit in an after-work appointment without needing to drive.

Open until 6pm Mon–Fri — Evening appointments mean parents can bring children in after school and professionals can attend after work without taking time off.

Specialist paediatric dentist on-site — Dr Aish Kesava (DCD Paediatric Dentistry, University of Otago) specialises in anxious and complex cases in children, with a trauma-informed, family-centred approach.

"Mr Bean" — the practice mascot — Epping has its own practice dog who helps anxious children settle in quickly. Check with the practice on current availability, as it varies by day.

Spanish spoken — Dr Maria Blanchard (originally from Venezuela, ADC-certified) speaks Spanish, making the practice a welcoming option for Spanish-speaking patients across Melbourne's northern suburbs.

Google reviews

Core Dental Epping has earned 201 Google reviews, with strong praise for the ambience ("not clinical at all"), Dr Marina Ghobrial's skill with nervous patients, and the CEREC same-day crown technology.

Frequently asked questions — Core Dental Epping

What exactly is CEREC and why does it matter? CEREC is in-practice milling technology that allows the team to design and manufacture a porcelain crown, inlay, or onlay within the same appointment. No temporary crown, no waiting two to three weeks for a laboratory result, no second visit. For patients with demanding schedules, that's a meaningful time saving.

Is laser dentistry actually less painful? For many patients, yes. Laser procedures generate less heat and vibration than a traditional drill, and a number of cavity treatments can be carried out with reduced or no local anaesthetic. Laser is also used for gum reshaping and soft tissue procedures, where it typically reduces both bleeding and recovery time. Ask at your consultation whether laser is appropriate for your treatment.

How far is Epping from the train station? Core Dental Epping at 230 Cooper Street is about a 10-minute walk from Epping Station. Bus routes on High Street also connect to the practice. After-work appointments between 4pm and 6pm are popular with commuters.

Does Epping offer appointments for school-aged children after 3pm? Yes — with the practice open until 6pm Monday to Friday, after-school appointments are available. Specialist paediatric dentist Dr Aish Kesava has particular expertise working with children who experience dental anxiety. Call (03) 9401 4622 to check after-school availability.

Is sleep dentistry available at Epping? Yes — both nitrous oxide (happy gas) and IV sedation are available for patients with dental anxiety. The team has been specifically noted by anxious patients for their patience and gentle approach throughout treatment.
