What's included in a check-up and clean?

Your appointment includes a comprehensive examination, professional scale and clean, and digital X-rays where needed. Your dentist and hygiene team will assess:

• All teeth for signs of decay, cracks, and wear
• Your gums for gingivitis or early-stage gum disease (periodontitis)
• Soft tissues of the mouth and throat for signs of oral cancer
• How your teeth come together (occlusal analysis)
• Areas not visible to the naked eye, using digital X-rays
• Plaque and calculus buildup above and below the gum line, removed with a professional scale and clean
• Enamel strength, with a polish and fluoride treatment to finish

Why every six months?

Plaque starts hardening into calculus within days. Once it forms, brushing won't shift it — it needs professional removal. Left to accumulate below the gum line, calculus causes inflammation, gum recession, and eventually bone loss.

Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) — bulk billing for children

Children aged 2 to 17 from families receiving eligible Australian Government payments may be covered under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule. Core Dental Group Epping bulk bills eligible children under this scheme, so their check-up and clean costs nothing. Benefits of up to $1,095.60 are available over a two-year period.

Health fund rebates with HICAPS
