Dental Implants at Core Dental Group
Missing teeth do more damage than most people realise. Beyond the gap in your smile, tooth loss affects how you eat, how clearly you speak, and — over time — the bone structure of your jaw. Dental implants are the most effective long-term solution for replacing missing teeth, and Core Dental Group will offer this treatment from our Bentleigh practice when we open in June 2026.

What are dental implants?
A dental implant is a small titanium screw placed into the jawbone to act as an artificial tooth root. Once the implant bonds with the bone — a process called osseointegration that typically takes 3–6 months — a custom-made crown is attached on top, creating a natural-looking, permanently fixed replacement tooth.
Implants are:
- Permanent and fixed — they don't come out like dentures
- Natural-looking — custom-crafted to match your existing teeth
- Bone-preserving — they stimulate the jawbone and prevent the bone loss that follows tooth loss
- Long-lasting — with proper care, implants can last a lifetime
- Easy to maintain — brush and floss them just like natural teeth
Dental implant services at Core Dental Group
At Core Dental Group, we offer:
- Single tooth implants — replacing one missing tooth
- Multiple implants — replacing several missing teeth independently
- Implant-supported crowns and bridges — fixed restorations supported by implants
- Digital treatment planning — a full digital workup before any procedure
Complex full-arch cases such as All-on-4 are referred to the Collins Street Specialist Centre for specialist surgical and prosthodontic care.
Are you a candidate for implants?
Most healthy adults with sufficient bone volume are suitable candidates. A few things affect whether implants are right for you:
- Bone density and volume (bone grafting can help where loss has already occurred)
- Overall health and medical history
- Smoking — it significantly increases the risk of implant failure, and quitting before treatment is strongly recommended
- Gum health
Your dentist at Core Dental Group will complete a thorough assessment and give you a clear treatment plan with written costs before anything proceeds.

Frequently asked questions
How long do dental implants last? With good oral hygiene and regular professional care, dental implants last 15 years or more — many patients go decades without any issues. The titanium implant itself is designed as a permanent fixture. The crown on top may need replacement after 10 to 15 years.
Is the implant procedure painful? Placement is done under local anaesthetic and most patients tolerate it well. Some soreness and swelling for a few days afterwards is normal and manageable with over-the-counter pain relief. IV sedation (sleep dentistry) is available for patients who are particularly anxious.
How long does the full implant process take? A conventional implant involves placement, then 3 to 6 months of healing while osseointegration occurs, then attachment of the final crown. Same-day implants are available in selected cases. Your dentist will give you a realistic timeline at your assessment.
Am I a suitable candidate for implants? Most adults in good general health qualify. You need adequate bone density, though bone grafting can address this where needed. Smokers face a higher failure risk and are advised to quit before treatment. A full clinical assessment, including imaging, determines suitability.
