Same-day emergency appointments from June 2026

Core Dental Glenferrie will hold dedicated emergency appointment slots every day, Monday to Friday 8:00 am–6:00 pm and Saturday 8:30 am–1:30 pm. No referral required.

What to do in a dental emergency

Knocked-out tooth: Handle by the crown only. Rinse gently. Try to reinsert the tooth in the socket — if that's not possible, store it in milk or between your cheek and gum. Call immediately. Survival chances drop fast.

Toothache: Try a warm salt-water rinse and ibuprofen or paracetamol as directed. Don't place aspirin directly on the gum or tooth.

Abscess or swelling: Apply a cold compress to the outside of your face and don't delay seeking care. If swelling is spreading toward your throat, call 000.

Lost filling or crown: Temporary dental cement from a pharmacy can protect the area in the meantime. Avoid chewing on the affected side until you're seen.
