What Is CEREC?

CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) is an advanced CAD/CAM dental system that combines digital scanning, computer-aided design, and in-practice ceramic milling to create precision-fitted crowns without the need for a dental laboratory.

Traditional crowns require two appointments: one to prepare the tooth and take impressions, and a second two to three weeks later to fit the permanent crown. In between, you wear a temporary crown that can come loose or feel uncomfortable.

With CEREC, the entire process happens in a single appointment at Core Dental Epping.

The CEREC Process

1. Preparation - Your dentist prepares the tooth and takes a digital scan using our intraoral camera. No uncomfortable putty impressions are required.
2. Design - The CEREC software creates a 3D model of your tooth. Your dentist designs the crown on-screen, customising the shape and bite in real time.
3. Milling - The crown is milled from a high-quality ceramic block right here in our practice - while you relax.
4. Fitting - Your new crown is tried for fit and adjusted as needed, then bonded permanently in place. Your bite is checked and refined before you leave.
