The centre has more than 25 registered specialist endodontists, oral surgeons, periodontists, and prosthodontists, all accessible via referral from your Bayside dentist.

What to do in a dental emergency

Knocked-out tooth: Handle by the crown, not the root. Rinse gently with milk or saline. Try to reinsert the tooth in the socket — if you can, hold it there and call us immediately. If reinsertion isn't possible, keep the tooth in milk or between your cheek and gum. Time matters: the chance of saving the tooth drops significantly after 30–60 minutes.

Toothache: Try a warm salt-water rinse and take paracetamol or ibuprofen as directed on the packaging. Don't put aspirin directly on the gum or tooth. Call us for a same-day assessment.

Dental abscess or swelling: Apply a cold compress to the outside of your face. Don't delay — call us, or go straight to an emergency department if the swelling is spreading rapidly or affecting your throat or breathing.

Lost filling or crown: Temporary dental cement (available at pharmacies) can protect the exposed area until you're seen. Avoid chewing on that side in the meantime.
