Nitrous Oxide (Happy Gas)

Nitrous oxide - often called happy gas or laughing gas - is a mild, safe sedation option that helps you relax while remaining fully conscious. You breathe the gas through a small nose mask, feel pleasantly calm within minutes, and the effects wear off quickly after the mask is removed. Nitrous oxide is suitable for patients of all ages, including children.

Will I be unconscious during sleep dentistry? IV sedation induces a deeply relaxed, twilight state - most patients have little to no memory of the procedure. It is not full general anaesthesia, so you remain able to respond to instructions, but you will be entirely comfortable throughout.

How soon can I return to normal activity after sedation? You will need a responsible adult to drive you home and should rest for the remainder of the day. You should not drive, operate machinery, or make important decisions for at least 24 hours. Most patients feel normal by the following day.
